Chapter 18: The Lost Son of the Valenti Family
Ricardo had spent his entire life believing family was simple.
Blood.
Loyalty.
Protection.
But every truth he uncovered made the word feel more complicated.
A family could love you.
A family could save you.
A family could destroy you.
And now there was another Valenti.
Adrian.
A person who had been hidden from him since birth.
Dante searched through old records.
Nothing.
No birth certificate.
No school records.
No medical history.
It was like Adrian never existed.
Then Clara found something.
She was sitting with Isabella, looking through old photographs.
“Wait.””
Everyone turned.
Clara held an old picture.
“My grandmother had this.””
Ricardo walked closer.
The photograph showed Isabella years ago.
Holding a baby.
Again.
But this time, someone was standing beside her.
Mateo.
And written on the back:
*Adrian — the child we protected.*
Ricardo stared.
“He was Mateo’s son?””
Isabella looked at the picture.
Her face changed.
A memory.
A real one.
“He wasn’t just Mateo’s.””
Everyone looked at her.
She whispered:
“He was mine.””
Ricardo felt the words hit him.
“You had another child?””
Isabella closed her eyes.
“I tried to tell you.””
“But you didn’t.””
“No.””
She looked at him.
“Because Carlo threatened him.””
Ricardo looked away.
Another child.
Another secret.
Another life stolen.
“Where is he?””
Isabella looked terrified.
“I don’t know.””
Dante’s phone rang.
He answered.
A few seconds later, his expression changed.
“Boss.””
Ricardo turned.
“What?””
“We found him.””
A pause.
“But there’s a problem.””
“What?””
Dante looked at Isabella.
“Victor found him first.””
They rushed to the location.
An old warehouse near the docks.
When they arrived, Ricardo saw a young man standing outside.
Late twenties.
Dark hair.
Cold eyes.
And something about him felt familiar.
Not like Leo.
Like himself.
The man looked at Ricardo.
“You’re late.””
Ricardo stopped.
“Adrian?””
The man smiled slightly.
“So she finally told you.””
Isabella stepped forward.
Tears filled her eyes.
“Adrian.””
The young man looked at her.
Not with anger.
With pain.
“You left me.””
Isabella froze.
“I was trying to protect you.””
“You protected everyone except me.””
The words broke her.
Ricardo understood.
Because Adrian had lived the same life Clara did.
A child carrying the consequences of adult wars.
Before anyone could speak, gunshots echoed.
Victor’s men.
They surrounded the warehouse.
Adrian immediately pulled out a weapon.
Ricardo noticed.
“You know how to fight.””
Adrian looked at him.
“Victor made sure of that.””
The battle exploded.
Ricardo, Dante, and Adrian fought together.
And for the first time, Ricardo saw something strange.
Adrian moved like him.
The same instincts.
The same anger.
The same refusal to fall.
After they escaped, Ricardo looked at Adrian.
“You hate me.””
Adrian laughed.
“I don’t know you.””
“Then why?””
“Because my whole life, I heard about the man who got the family I lost.””
Ricardo felt the words.
“I didn’t know.””
Adrian looked away.
“That’s the problem.””
Later that night, Isabella sat with all three children.
Leo.
Clara.
Adrian.
A family that had been separated by lies.
Ricardo watched from a distance.
Then Adrian approached him.
“I found something.””
Ricardo looked at him.
“What?””
Adrian handed him a folder.
Inside were documents from Victor.
One name appeared repeatedly.
The final person involved in the conspiracy.
Ricardo read it.
His face changed.
Because the person who helped Victor hide everything…
Was someone still alive.
Someone who had been beside him from the beginning.
Dante.
May you like
Ricardo looked up slowly.
And Dante was already gone.
