Chapter 15: The Confession That Changed Everything

Nobody understood what happened.

Not even me.

The file continued uploading across every device in the room.

Richard stared at the screens.

His confidence was gone.

For the first time, he looked powerless.

“Who uploaded that?””

Nobody answered.

Then Adrian stepped forward.

“I did.””

Everyone turned.

I looked at my brother.

“You?””

He nodded.

“I knew we needed proof.””

Richard’s face darkened.

“You betrayed me.””

Adrian laughed.

“You betrayed me first.””

The video finished uploading.

Thomas opened it.

The screen displayed Richard sitting in an office years earlier.

Talking.

Planning.

Admitting.

My stomach tightened.

It was real.

Everything.

Richard’s voice filled the room.

“Alexander is too emotional. He will never sacrifice family for business.””

Another voice asked:

“And the children?””

Richard answered:

“Children become leverage.””

My mother closed her eyes.

I felt sick.

The man who destroyed our family had never seen us as people.

Only pieces.

The video continued.

Richard discussed Daniel.

The company.

The forged documents.

Everything.

Then came the part that changed the room.

A conversation between Richard and Victoria’s mother.

My sister looked at the screen.

Her face went pale.

“No.””

The recording showed Richard saying:

“Make Victoria believe she was forgotten.””

Her mother answered:

“She deserves the truth.””

Richard replied:

“Truth makes people weak.””

Victoria covered her mouth.

All these years.

Her anger.

Her jealousy.

Her pain.

It had been carefully created.

Richard had not just manipulated companies.

He had manipulated people.

Victoria looked at him.

“You ruined my life.””

Richard looked at her coldly.

“I gave you purpose.””

“No.””

Her voice broke.

“You gave me hatred.””

For once, Richard had nothing to say.

The police arrived twenty minutes later.

Apparently, Adrian had sent copies of everything before we entered the house.

Richard Vale was finally exposed.

The man who lived in the shadows had nowhere left to hide.

But the aftermath was not simple.

Nothing in my family ever was.

Daniel approached me outside.

The sky was turning orange.

A new day.

A different life.

“I know you’ll never forgive me.””

I looked at him.

“I don’t know.””

His eyes filled.

“I’m sorry.””

I believed he meant it.

That was the hardest part.

Because sometimes people regret hurting you.

And sometimes they still hurt you.

Both things can be true.

“I loved you,” I said.

He looked down.

“I know.””

“But love without honesty isn’t enough.””

He nodded.

Then walked away.

Victoria found me later.

“I don’t expect forgiveness.””

I looked at her.

“That’s good.””

She smiled sadly.

“But I want to try to earn something better.””

I studied her.

For years, I saw her as the person who stole my life.

Now I saw someone who had also been used.

“I don’t know if we can be sisters.””

She nodded.

“But?””

I looked at her.

“But we can start with the truth.””

She cried.

And for the first time, neither of us pretended.

That night, I sat with my mother.

The woman I thought I lost forever.

“Are you angry with me?”” she asked.

I looked at her.

“Yes.””

She nodded.

“I understand.””

“But I’m also happy.””

Her eyes filled.

“I missed you.””

I held her hand.

“I missed you too.””

Across the room, my father watched quietly.

A broken family.

But maybe not a destroyed one.

The next morning, the board meeting began.

Everyone expected me to take control.

To destroy Daniel.

To remove every person connected to the betrayal.

But when I entered the room, I did something nobody expected.

I placed the documents on the table.

Then I said:

“Vale Holdings will not continue the way it has.””

Everyone waited.

“This company was built on family.””

I looked around.

“But family without trust is just another business deal.””

The room was silent.

I continued.

“So I’m changing everything.””

Thomas looked surprised.

“What do you mean?””

I smiled.

“I’m not rebuilding my father’s empire.””

I looked at Adrian.

At Victoria.

At my mother.

“I’m building something new.””

For the first time in years, I felt free.

But just as the meeting ended, Thomas rushed into the room.

His face was pale.

“Eleanor.””

I turned.

“What happened?””

He handed me a document.

A document that had arrived minutes earlier.

My heart stopped when I saw the signature.

Because it belonged to my father.

And the date was tomorrow.

*Alexander Vale’s final instruction.*

But my father was standing right beside me.

And he had no idea what was inside.
